Infusions at Home
At Australian Unity, we are committed to offering members more choice when it comes to their health and the treatments they receive. We are excited to announce a partnership with chemo@home – Australia’s leading provider of at home infusions services.
For eligible members and with their doctor’s approval, Australian Unity hospital cover members can now receive their infusion treatments from home, their office or even their holiday house.
What is Infusions at Home?
The Infusions at Home program allows you to have infusion treatments that were traditionally provided in a day hospital, at a time, and in the comfort of a location, that suits you*. No more driving to appointments, battling with parking or losing an entire day to get treatment. All services are provided by registered nurses, who can also provide pathology or certain other assessments that are required by your specialist.
How does Infusions at Home work?
A member of the chemo@home team will discuss your treatment with your specialist doctor to ensure it is appropriate for their service. If so, they will coordinate all treatments with you at a time and location convenient for you.
Suitability for at-home treatment is decided by your specialist and a member of the chemo@home team. Some examples of conditions that can be treated at home include:
-
Cancer services
Chemotherapy
Immunotherapy
-
Rheumatoid Arthritis
-
Multiple Sclerosis
-
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis)
-
Iron deficiency anaemia
-
Osteoporosis
