Today, we actively identify and help solve a diverse range of health, financial and lifestyle needs of our members, customers and the broader community so that they can thrive.
As a mutual company, we are owned by our members. This gives us greater flexibility to invest money into the services and solutions that matter most to our members, customers and the Australian community.
Through the acquisition of existing retirement communities our humble beginnings as a provider of retirement living commenced.
Years later, we grew to become a developer of new communities and also extended our services into aged care.
Since then, we’ve grown again to also provide a range of home and disability services throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

We proudly provide services to almost 900,000 Australians, 300,000 of whom are members. Our areas of expertise include healthcare, financial services, retirement living, assisted living and insurance. All profits are directed to improving services for our members.
With origins dating back to 1840, we are one of Australia’s oldest organisations.
Over the years we have grown in many ways however we have always promoted the wellbeing of everyday Australians.
For instance, back in the 1890s one of our founding organisations campaigned for Australia to become a Federation. Australia’s first two prime ministers, Sir Edmund Barton and Alfred Deakin, were both members of our society and so was the first Australian-born Governor-General in 1930, Sir Isaac Isaacs.
