Get started with a Home Care Package

4 simple steps to get your Home Care Package

A Government-funded Home Care Package can help you with coordinated services to stay living independently at home.

To find out if you're eligible for a Home Care Package follow the 4 simple steps below.

Call My Aged Care

Call the My Aged Care team on 1800 200 422

They will confirm you meet the requirements for Home Care Package funding.

If you're calling for someone else they will need to give their consent.

Identify your needs

A member of the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) will visit your home and discuss your needs and recommend the right support for you.

With your consent they'll be able to assess your needs and eligibility for services.

Following your assessment

My Aged Care will send you a letter of approval to let you know whether you're eligible.

You will then be placed on the National Waitlist and be contacted by mail once a package has become available.

Receive your package and start services

You will receive another letter from My Aged Care to advise your package has been assigned.

This simply means your funding is available and you can select a service provider, like Australian Unity, to commence services.

Government funding

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme for shorter-term, more immediate support
Home Care Package
Short-Term Restorative Care for services such as nursing, Home Care Packages, physiotherapy and occupational therapy

Self-funded home care services can be a great solution while waiting for government funding or if you’d prefer not to go through the government assessment process.
