That is the view of Adam Vise, Australian Unity’s group treasurer and general manager for strategy and impact.

“As one of Australia’s pioneering mutual organisations with roots tracing back to 1840, we consider making a positive difference to our members, customers, and the wider Australian community an integral part of our identity,” says Vise.

“The demands of socially conscious consumers, staying competitive, and preparing for a changing regulatory landscape are all driving the shift towards greater transparency and a commitment to positive social and environmental outcomes,” says Vise.

The blueprint for Australian Unity’s impact – and the yardstick by which it is measured - is its community and social value (CSV) framework, which was developed in conjunction with social impact specialists, Social Ventures Australia. The CSV framework centres on three key impact areas:

Lifelong wellness - ensures access to better healthcare through diverse services and initiatives, emphasising tailored care for improved health outcomes.

Economic empowerment - focusing on building financial resilience, enabling individuals to fund their own wellbeing.

Strong communities - fosters social innovation, bridges service gaps, and promotes living in place through investments in care, infrastructure, and specialist housing.
