What is involved in the estate administration process
Administering an estate can be difficult and time-consuming. There are many administrative duties which include but are not limited to:
-
Locating the final will and arranging the funeral
-
Identifying and protecting any assets and considering if there is an estate to administer
-
Comply with state-based advertising requirements for the application of a grant of representation (Probate or Letters of Administration, if a grant is required)
-
Obtaining a grant of representation from the Supreme Court; this provides the executor or administrator the authority to deal with the deceased’s assets
-
Making formal contact with and confirming the identity of beneficiaries
-
Managing any potential claims or litigation
